Formed in 2006 in London by Debora Bonemei and Joanna Puchala. Since 2013 is lead by artsitc directior Joanna Puchala. LCP is a multimedia and multiethnic dance company which emphasises on human rights issues mainly human trafficking. The aim is to bring awareness of inequality and violation of human rights around the world through the performing arts.
With support of BBC Performing Arts fund 2011 for the best choreography awarded to Mimmo Miccolis, LCP created a unique human rights based dance performance “Rights(?)’. In collaboration with African Dance Company Tavaziva Dance and Bernie Grant Arts Centre, LCP stood for rights of equal race, gender, social and economical status.
LCP is a non profit organisation with opened networks to various artists who through different forms of art manifests against violated rights. LCP partnerships with another charity organisation Hurricane of Hearts which is involved in an international fund raising event of ‘Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity 2013’ to provide Polish hospitals with a medical equipment to save human’s life. We collaborate with Sophie Hayes Foundation which supports victims of human trafficking as well as with Minded Institute which provides with the alternative therapy training for people with mental health issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, ecc. This module is combined with neuroscience, psychotherapy, mindfulness and yoga practice.
We train emerging dancers in a very unique performing arts structure by merging a contemporary dance techniques with acting by introducing the Meisner technique to improve their physical and psychological skills on stage. This technique emphasises “moment-to-moment” spontaneity through communication with other actors in order to generate behaviour that is truthful within imagined, fictional circumstances. In association with Lesoco – Lewisham & Southwark College in London, LCP runs the educational scheme to support dance students and graduates from The Place (London Contemporary Dance School), Birkbeck (University of London), Lesoco and Laban, in their professional training by facilitating them with additional dance company classes/workshops and merging their skills with the company’s repertoire.
