Joanna Puchala – Artistic Director

Born in Poland and lives in London, performing artist pursuing her professional career as a contemporary dancer, choreographer and artistic director of LCP dance theatre. She collaborated with Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Tavaziva Dance , BBC, Nyctoloptic dance Theatre and coo-funded AllotropiaMovement.

Joanna’s work at LCP as a producer, artistic director and contemporary dancer involves full length professional dance productions, some of them nominated by the Amnesty International Freedom Expression Award at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016/15/14 for: aerial dance ” Escape”2016, dance theatre “I am”2015 and “Am I” 2014. The other productions include: a very successful dance performance “Rights(?)” awarded by BBC Performing Arts Fund, and others presented in various arts festivals: “Lust Lost Last” at Camden Fringe Festival, and  “Taking Chances”, “Voices 4 Change”, “Please do not remove it”, “Up&down” at Brockley Arts Festival:. She danced with Dance United at “Destino” in Sadler’s Wells”, choreographed and performed with Jawaf Dance Theatre “Going nowhere”, with AllotropiaMovement “Imaginary…”. Performed at “The Profondis” Frivol Festival in London.

Her artistic ability also carries over into other mediums as she creates sets and films connected to the human rights based dance performance. Joanna starred as a dancer in one of the short dance film productions by DNP Dance Arts at London International Portobello Film Festival 2009.

In London Joanna is associated with Lewisham College (LeSoCo) and Goldsmith’s University where she runs the company dance  classes and workshops. She is also a funder of a new yoga dance style that has been taught world wide and  Yoga Therapist for well being at Minded Institute.

She has graduated from University of London: Birkbeck College in association with The Place (Contemporary Dance School of London) and Metthew Bourne ‘New Adventures’ with a dance degree; Lewisham College (LeSoCo): BTEC National Award in Performing Arts-Dance; Royal Holloway University of London: Postgraduate Certificate in Physical Theatre for Dancers and Actors lead by Jasmin Vardimon Company.
